ISIS close Balikh canal to stop SDF advance

Hundreds of civilians from Kom Romani,Dawar al-Mazarea,Forusyie and Sbahyie north Raqqa displaced after their houses filled with water after one of Balikh canal branch flooded west Raqqa city.

NSO reporter in the area said hundreds of civilians from those areas displaced after their houses flooded with water after ISIS closed canal’s branch with dirt barriers trying to stop SDF advance to Raqqa city.

Reporter clarified the Balikh canal and its branches are on full capacity after SDF opened it to release pressure from Euphrates Dam and decrease water level while ISIS close it in some strategic areas in Raqqa countryside to flood those areas and stop SDF advancing in Raqqa battle believed to start in next weeks.

Reporter added civilians were forced to go to Raqqa city because they couldn’t go north or west due to clashes near the city,saying ISIS closed another branch of the same canal in Raqqa eastern countryside for the same reasons.
